It's not an announcement, but it's about theft, anyway.

I am now elaborating a new system to protect/recover outboard engines in case of theft. As this is a business project, I am looking for viable statistics, covering the the value/volume of outboards lost, over couple last years - to justify the value of the market when talking to money people.

I have approached some insurance professionals, but they are not very keen to share this knowledge. So if you can share some information or point me to some public sources, I would appreciate it a lot.

Zambant, thanks for the hint.

For the UK, I found a great site, stolenboats.org.uk with thousands of outboards listed. I subscribed for real-time alerts and got 14 of them since yesterday.

I will now try to go through other EU countries, as well as the US. Will try the police option, too.

Stolenboats seems to be pretty well connected across europe, although from experience, getting a theft listed can be a bit of a hassle... It's a pretty good guideline though, and you can see how many are recovered, too.
