Looking for Origo on the cheap

After my last post regarding suitable cookers for a small yacht, I have decided on an Origo 2 hob burner. they seem relatively safe and cheap to run.

I have searched the various suppliers and found that a 2 hob version with gimballs and pan holder come to £200 atleast. As I am on a very small budget due to my miniscule income, I have the choice of:

A - Saving my pennies for a few months and get a shiny new one.
B - Track down a useable second hand item

I have looked on Ebay and done a few google searches but to no avail. Does anybody know where old burners go to die? Is there a marine 'scrapyard' anywhere? Anybody have one lying in a garage they would like to sell?

In a perfect world I would simply go out and purchase all of the equipment and gadgets I needed for my brand new 50ft Swan. In reality, I have very little money and an unhealthy passion for my beloved 28 year old 22 footer!

Compass are good - i particularly like the ENO GAS COOKER for just £129.95 including gimbals & pan holders.

The only problem i have with that is finding space in an outside locker for a gas bottle and ventilating it!

Try the Boat Jumbles, fixture list here:-

I have bought loads of stuff from them. Beaulieu about the biggest methinks.
I installed a gas locker made from laminated a plastic bucket in GRP, and nailing high up in th aft locker on my 22 footer, with a 3/4" skin fitting to let the gas out over the side. You can get a Bomar circular lid to go through the deck and acess from the top if required. Decent little gas sniffer and away you go. One of the forumites gave me a Flavel Vanessa for nowt, and I installed all the gas pipes, valves etc, and had it checked. No problem, and its on Calor Gas Leisure website. Total cost, probably about 30 quid all in.

Jim dew, that sounds like a great setup.

One question - how do you stop water coming through the skin fitting into your gas locker.

i have lloked on the Calor Gas Leisure website but can't see any reference to your setup. Do you have any pics?

Have a look at www.whitworths .com.au at 162 quid for 2 burner or single burner at 103 quid. To that you would have to add post and pack and VAT and maybe duty.
Yeah they are incredibly expensive for what they are but they are easy to install and safe. regards will

If you're in France then get some "alcole a bruler" (spelling's probably wrong) from the supermarket. It's meths without the colour or smell.

I have a new and unused two burner Primus with flame failure devices that you can have for very little indeed.I bought it to replace my old Flavel Vanessa cooker, that I still have, by the way, and fitted a Wallas hob instead.
Send me a pm and we'll work out a figure,if interested.

30boat...

What fuel does the primus use? I have done a quick search for primus cookers and most seem to be camping stoves that use gas cartridges. Do you have any pics & dimensions?
