Don't post on a website. Get down to Sunderland YC at Roker. It's a friendly racing club. They race most weekends and some Wednesday evenings in the summer. They really are a very nice bunch of people (for Maccams).
There will always be someone willing to give a relative novice a sail. If you are a total novice do a weekend's course at Kielder Water first.
