My friend George is willing to enter the adventure of building a small classic boat, rig her with sails and everything and enter the classic boats race next year in Spetses. His English is primitive but he is an able builder and sailor. He asked me to locate some candidates and make his choice between them. His restrictions are 15 to 18 feet long with a sail plan to make her quick and lively. Initially he asked me to find details of “Victoria” a Phil Bolger design which he had seen in the past. However, googling around, I noticed the Victoria is mentioned as rowing boat and I could not locate the sail plan.
I would be grateful if someone could point me to the right direction as to how to proceed.

There is a data base of Phil Bolger's boats, I will look it up and add it.
As for classic looking boats... Selway Fisher have several in that size as does Iain Oughtred, fine performers, though I admit to owning an IO double ender, a type of boat that would stir hearts in Greece.
Also look at the list of designers on Duckworks site. Fine stuff from Welsford and several others.

Lots depends on his choice of construction. Glued clinker is used by several in the above. If carvel/plank on frame, then choice tends to favour earlier designs. Have a look at the Wooden Boat Forum and delve into their design lists. Huge numbers there.
I have always been intrigued by Bolger's designes and am currently building a modified version of one. Modified, as I could not quite go with the very square sections. They work well, but are a little jarring to view.

Worth looking at Watercraft magazine because it specialises in just this type of boat, mostly for home construction. Most of the designers and suppliers of kits advertise in it and it regularly features builders' accounts of undertaking their projects.
