Looking for day tank for diesel heater

Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade, but diesel is such messy stuff, tanks need vent holes=smell, and if you have to take off and lift from the main tank in order to top up, daily, well.. I have small electric pulsing pump direct to a Taylors dripfeed diesel, which has been known to run for weeks on end without faffing about. IMO. Pump costs same as daytank, all copper pipe installation, nomplastics or extra breathers.

don't disagree I planned to do this but just wanted to get operational first. The manual for my heater recommends a head tank no matter what to endure constant head on the feed. I get about 6 hours from a litre if turned down.

Direct feed will T into the header tank line and is on the list for this winter. Am considering a rubber bulb type hand fuel pump for top up so the system continues to be electric free.

As the OP I thought I should report back that - at last, after much faffing about - my diesel heater is going well. I used a go kart tank bought off ebay for gravity feed as suggested in this thread, with a bulb to prime the heater. Working well, and filling the tank just means taking it out to the cockpit. Very simple and unproblematic solution.

Thanks for the advice.
