I need to moor my Grand Banks 36' (11.3m loa, 3.9m beam, 1.2m draft) from mid april to late June in or close to Amsterdam. I guess Sixhaven will be the most expensive option, does anyone have any recommendations for cheaper options? It could also be a private berth that I borrow for the period against a reasonable payment but I wouldn't know where to look for it.

Aeolious VVW 1/2 a mile East of the Sixhaven on the same side of the North Sea Canal. it has a very good super mkt just through the ent gate

Have a look at this site: http://www.allejachthavens.nl/pagina8.htm#Amsterdam
As you are looking for motorboat mooring there are a few more options as bridge clearance is less of a problem. Forget about Sixthaven. Too expensive.
You could go for Jachthaven Twellegea. Situated very quiet on the north-side of "Het IJ", although the facilities are quite modest.

You might also consider not tying up in the 'dam itself, but somewhere the other side of the Orangesluis, and using the excellent trains to get in to town.

We use to moor at Jacht haven meerzicht at Rijnsaterwoude for 23 years. on Brassemeer. inside as in an afloat shed and outside moorings. Was very safe.

Thanks for the tips, I have now finally had time to check some of the suggested marinas. It seems they are all priced fairly similarly in the eur 1.5-2 per meter per night range, and Sixhaven actually turns out amongst the cheapest unless if I want to moor well out of Amsterdam. That's surprising given the super location of Sixhaven, am I missing something? The marina homepages are often not very well updated and rarely available in english, so I may well have missed something. Any ideas?

Well last time I was there they had a time limit, two wks as I remember, so best check that in advance by telephone (English spoken) .

I have stayed in Sixhaven and it is very reasonably priced. Location is very good with a free ferry that takes you across to the main train station. It has good facilities and friendly yacht club. There may be an official time limit but they spoke perfect English and you could phone and ask. One think to bear in mind is that it gets very popular and they more or less cram everyone in who turns up. This means that you can't always leave when you want to. You have to wait until every one else moves. Putting a sign on your boat saying "leaving at six a.m." would do no good at all. I like it and think it is one place that all boaters should visit at least once. With the current euro to pound rate, it is about fifteen quid a night for a ten metre boat inc electric etc.
