SORRY I MEANT TO PUT Wanted Achilles 24 Triple Keel
The outboard version.
Preferably with a Trailer.
I live in the North West and all the ones for sale seem to be miles away.
Just missed one in Maryport which would have done.
Anyone thinking of selling ?

I saw this rather nice one on Ebay and berthed in Bangor marina, so just a short motorway ride from Lancashire. Doesn't say what keel she has, but very clean and tidy. Here is the link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/sailing-boat-yacht/323856142621?hash=item4b6754911d:g:jiEAAOSwWM1c4SxZ and here is the sellers mobile 07584054677. Good luck.

Thank You, I have seen an advert to that boat. It has a BMW Inboard Diesel.
I am trying to source an Outboard Model boat. I have seen an Achilles 24 with a Volvo Inboard Diesel but apparently you can't get engine parts for it.I would imagine that a 30+ year old. Bmw Inboard would be the same.
I have looked at the Importers of the Chinese Engines and they dont make a smaller engine than a 15/18.

An 8hp or similar OB engine through the well in the cockpit works fine, deploying and stowing nothing like as awkward as over the back, downside is that the smoke tends to hang about when you have a following breeze, handy to be able to take it home for maintenance too, I think the OP is making the right choice. There was a VP petrol inboard back at that time which was a honda OB with a saildrive leg added, I had one on a later boat, were not great even when they were new, shudder to think of a petrol inboard now.

You can solve the problem of engine fumes by tapping a spigot into the rear of the engine which is attached a rubber pipe ( Yamaha exhaust piping in my case). On my Etap that has a similar well, there is a small pipe which runs from the rear of the well and exits from the the transom into which the rubber pipe can be pushed. This allows the engine plus pipe fitting to be removed when not in use - seems to work very well.
I agree with "Quandary" ideal to be able to take the outboard home for servicing etc and I would imagine a lot less expensive than an inboard to maintain.

A little way from you but this nice example has been for sale all year. Trailer, outboard, fin keel. Think there were also some black 3Di sails too.

That looks to be a nice boat.

And you wouldn't have to throw a wallet at it to get sailing.

Achilles 24 is a classic . There is one at our club which has a slightly bigger rig and the damn thing goes passed most of us.

If the trip matters more than the eating, drinking , lounging, sleeping and physical athleticism below it's a winner in every department. Let us know how you get on.

Can't believe that three keels would not be slower than a boat with one, but then bilge keels are a Welsh thing, we would never tolerate them up here.
