Looking for Affordable Berth/Mooring (8m Westerly Pembroke) – East/South Coast Ireland

Hi all,

I’ve just received the summer season harbour fee for an 8m boat in Greystones, and it’s over €4,000. Unfortunately, that’s not financially manageable for me at the moment, so I need to relocate fairly quickly.

I’ve already contacted the following marinas/harbour offices and clubs:

• Dungarvan
• New Ross Marina
• Courtown
• Arklow
• Wexford
• Wicklow

Some are still allocating berths or mooring buoys, but so far I haven’t had any positive responses.

Does anyone know of a harbour, marina, yacht club, or private mooring with availability that would suit a small Westerly Pembroke (8m) and cost significantly less than €6,000 per year?

I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions or contacts.

Arklow, New Ross Marina are definitely in that range. 6k a year is really high for 8m I feel. It's not Howth...
But you said 4000 Euros is already too much. So, that begs the question: If 4k is too much, why is your limit 6k? It is kind of late, I might wake up tomorrow and feel stupid, but at the time of writing, I don't feel like I miss something.



Wicklow is such a pretty little fishing village, nice harbour wall to go on, but nothing for permanent stay. The boat club there has a ramp and they launch small sailing dinghies mostly. No yachts.

Where are you operating from? I know a couple further north but it might be too far north for you?

I read it as 4k for the summer, 6k for the year. Far too much, anyway. They need a buoy somewhere, probably.

I spent a few nights there. The people are nice, but that visitor pontoon is dodgy and dirty af. The marina seems very limited in size, too. But I guess cheap enough.

OP what do you pay annually for an 8m boat?

Below dublin there is not a huge amount of choice

not more than 2 k and after 2 years just 200

For me in Sailing romantic Arklow is a big update to greystones yeah the marina is very small but not far away from dublin with the train 1 1/2 hr (Greystones was 1 hour). I think its a bit dirty but not the worst I saw haha

Maybe. The train from dublin to rosslare takes 3 hours. A distance of less than 100 miles
