Looking for a permanent mooring Scotland West Coast

Any ideas/suggestions? Would be even better if there was a small house or cottage available along with its own mooring.

We have a cottage/small house for sale on the Argyll coast and also a nearby mooring until recently, but none of the house viewers so far have wanted it so we sold it separately to a neighbour. But there's room for another mooring.

For Argyll have you considered Loch Melfort, it is amongst the best sailing grounds that there are. I have an apartment for-sale that is literally on the pier (it is with Oban estate agency MacPhee's). It comes with its own mooring and private access to the pier and harbour.

Is that the very expensive place on Loch Long?

I missed-out on that during the Fife Regatta last year. Prefer Kames and Tignabruaich myself.

I'm no great fan of marinas, but Portavadie is very pleasant indeed. The restaurant is great and quite reasonably priced, the people are friendly and there are hair straighteners available in the gents' toilet. And they don;t charge you for a daytime visit if you eat there, which is nice.

If the preference is to be on the other side of the Crinan Canal from Portavadie. I have a House on Loch Melfort at Melfort Pier, where there are a number of properties, originally used for Holiday lettings but now about a third of them are privately owned.

Each House has a deep water mooring in Fearnoch Bay and the ability to keep a dinghy in the small Harbour. Three of us have Boats on moorings Apr - Sept

Whilst I am NOT selling my House, my neighbour has put his up for sale

Alternatively if a Marina berth is preferred there are some Holiday cottages at Croabh Haven. There are usually one or two of those for sale most of the time.

I thought Tarbert were the cheapwest walk ashore moorings around. If they were is short supply I would suspect the prices would rise acordingly.

Not necessarily. When I gave up my berth at Kirkcudbright Marina - which, like Tarbert, ls run by the local authority - it was costing me £60 per metre per year. The waiting list is about fifty years.

I had heard that permanent moorings/berths there were like gold dust. Happy to be told I'm wrong, if I am.

We took up a berth (37ft) straight away 2 years ago. AFAIK there are still options for berths - not so sure on moorings. They are also cheaper than most places in the Clyde region and beyond....but dont tell anyone.
