Had a brilliant Easter on Moreton Bay apart from nearly getting run down by the Multihull division of the Brisbane to Gladstone race. Plenty of breeze but discovered that the Cavalier 30 (a stretched version of the 28) really doesn't have sufficient room for 2 parents and 2 teenagers. SWMBO keen to upgrade as well which is encouraging. So, starting to browse the brokers websites looking for something a little roomier.
Came across a Jeanneau 34 (www.boatingservices.com.au) that looks posh and shiny. Any thoughts from the forumeers? I have occasionally seen production boats given a slightly hard time on the forum so thought you might call it like it is. Relevant selection criteria include headroom (I'm 1.89m tall but have got used to bashing head in the Cav - was it Uffa Fox who said "If you want to stand up, go outside"), nothing too racey and definitely nothing twitchy or SWMBO refuses to participate in the sailing (she is quite taken with a venerable Salar 40, seen on www.yachtnet.com.au - looks like molto maintenance to me)
Not planning to cross the Pacific but do like sailing around Moreton Bay and up the Queensland coast.
Feedback appreciated.
