A friend of mine is looking for a yacht cradle to take his Westerley Oceanranger (I think). I think she's about 48 ft. Anyway, obviously requires quite a biggish cradle and the yard don't have one big enough.

Anyone know of any for sale? Ideally in the west country but willing to look anywhere for the right thing.

cheers muchly in advance.

An alternative I have used is a visit to the scrap metal yard, they have all the bits you need and most have cutting gear.

I managed to find one with a boilermaker on the payroll and got him to build a cradle for me, very cheap as material is purchased at scrap price and he did the work in his own time or when they were not flat out.

The result was only needed for one season, but has since been blasted and painted.

Well worth a few phone calls.

Good luck.

I bought a cradle from Tennamast who are based in Scotland. They are exceptionally helpful, pleasant to deal with and will deliver anywhere in UK. They quoted me a price in June 2009 and when I made a purchase in September, the price had risen. They honoured the June quote without question. The cradle is high quality and can be completely dismantled, which solves storage problems when not in use.

no idea if this any help but drove to bosham on saturday and a large cradle which appeared to be made from a lorry chassis with uprights was for sale at road side (if I remember it was on rhs as you approach bosham turn off from chichester direction on the southcoast road (not the A27)

Thanks guys

Had someone take a look at the one near Bosham but he doesn't think it's big enough.

Not sure if he has time to get one built, and doesn't want to spend out on a new one (you know how it is!)

Thanks though! Keep em coming....!
