looking a bit windy on Monday...!

The TAF for Bournemouth and Southampton is suggesting 25knts with a max gust of 40knts.

Heathrow TAF still suggesting max gusts of 55knts. We are planning on similar.

Looks like the system may be adopting a more northerly track (which was on the cards from the start as a possibility).

a friend reckons it's moving south with the winds now centred on France

Current forecasts don't suggest that but it can change right up until the last minute - frankly nothing is very definite with this sort of system. With forcast winds still in the SW backing to S and this being cyclonic it's still suggests a northerly track.

A southerly track would shift the wind direction to more southerly backing easterly. That's only the current situation though. Still 12h+ so nothing is set firm

quite. this is what he's said (he's one of these storm chaser types) It's looking on the latest runs that the centre of the storm may be a bit further south... not good for France but good for us. The track was always uncertain, might end up missing it totally. This is however one data run out of many, this being the first that has moved the centre of the storm. We'll see tomorrow. Thing with these storms, depending on the temperature they pick up, they can wander around as much as they want - don't forget it's wind and it can blow itself wherever it wants to! Lol

Is there anywhere that has (accurate) surface pressure charts that are updated more frequently than once every 24 hours?
The Met Office site drives me round the bend in this respect ... where is the "actual" pressure data?

So having added another four lines to the pontoon and following Rafiki advice thoroughly strapped the tonneau down, is it to be a Michael Fish - "... don't worry there isn't a hurricane ...", or a 'oh **** - yes there is !.

All the sites I use (Weather Outlook, Windfinder & Met Office) suggest yes very windy tonight, but not as much as forecast yesterday.

If anyone has a boat in or near Hamble PM me if you want it checked.

I went down to Portishead today, and removed the tonneau. Added a couple more warps and fenders, now back home wrapped around a glass of wine. Watching the forecast with interest.
