Its pretty impresssive , and like or hate the monarchy ( I love 'em ) , it shows that when we put our minds to it , we can do things in style.

94 feet of pure unadulterated beauty.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

In general I'm relaxed about the monarchy. But ( ! ) am I right in thinking that boat has been built specially for the jubilee? Considering the current financial strife in this country that thing is a bit excessive.

It wasn't paid for by the taxpayer .... it was paid for by a local resident ;) as far as i know. They picked him up from his house and brought him down to the lock on it ...

A little vid ..... click the picture to play

1. Great video - thanks.

2. He is better in locks than me (16' planing hull with outboard here).

3. My wife said it looked fabulous.

4. Was that the Royal Standard off the back? Was SHE onboard?

Was it ?

I thought it was a gift from the man who used to own some car parks.

They went upriver specifically to pick him up from his house and give him a ride to the lock on it ;)

Someone told me it was an existing boat done up but i thought it was built from scratch
Lovely boat though and i bet the little princess on the stern had a fairy tale day or at least a day to remember for the rest of life . :)

Looks magnificent and I do hope the two kids will have photos and maybe a copy of your video to help them remember a truly wonderful experience.

However, I can't help thinking that I would have liked a few more fenders out if it had been mine ! :D

We happened to be in the barge lock at the same time. Nice to hear a rowing boat with an engine and bow thruster and not causing a nuisance for a change!

Bit of a mix up ?

The Spirit of Chartwell is the blinged up hotel boat also being used in the QJP as opposed to the custom built rowing boat in the pix.

Lovely photos and video! It was designed and built by a local man Mark Edwards and has been moored up recently just below Richmond Bridge, from where Ramage & I took our earlier photos.

It will be used for momentous trips in the future & yes a return trip or two through Tedders.

Did you sell it a Visitors Licence? :D

Not wishing to spoil your humour,
but I wonder if there is a Royal Right not only to navigate ('cos that's public anyway) but the Right not to pay "fees, charges, or encumbrances".

I would expect Byron and probably Cris C-S know. Anyone else.

Just a geeky point.

Most interesting, thanks for posting, along with the fully drawn vids as well. Dad use to keep our first yacht at toughs in 1970, fond memories of the reach to Richmond.
