The Police have apparently released a video of the Romford Navy doing stupid things at high speed on jetskis close to the shore and a pontoon. The newscaster said there was a crackdown coming........but let's see if anything happens

The only thing you need is an old bit of string - these things don't go very well when passing over a bit of old string.

Used this tactic with much success to stop Somali skiffs. No reason it wouldn't stop Essex PWC.

The problem is that a Somali skiff with a length of old string wrapped around the outboard leg will only curse you unto Allah and fire long range shots with a badly made inaccurate AK47 in your general direction as you sail away

Essex man with a Jet Ski which has lunched its jet drive by ingesting your cunningly placed length of old floating string is likely to be miffed enough to call his mates, his lawyer and the police in turn thus inviting you to enjoy a punch up the hooter, legal action for damages and a criminal record for any one or more of several charges they could probably make stick

True - but one wonders how Essex man intends to prove that it was my bit of old floating string.
It would be a lot harder to prove than proving who had shot him with a paintball gun.

The video was from my club's CCTV, a little way from the subject of the story which was that the beach patrol at Clacton now has a jet ski of its own to chase miscreants, which is probably what it means by a crackdown. While the clip illustrated the stupidity of that jet skier driving at speed just off our hard, pontoon and through the moorings (and back!) it wasn't really relevant to the story about Clacton.

With the yacht mentioned at the start of this thread, was a speedboat. They went to Brightlingsea and when they came back they were followed by a guy in a black rubber duck, with something like "Colne patrol" on the side. He came close inshore and had a conversation with the guy in the speedboat, I did not see the guy in the speedboat do anything wrong, and I was left with the feeling that the guy in the rubber duck was just a bored "Jobsworth"

one of the nastier tricks devised by the IRA many many years ago was to stretch black electric cable across dark streets at night. There were a number of very nasty accidents before the Army withdrew motorcycles as a means of quick communication.
