Looe Luggers

I don't know, but the underwater lines look rather sweet to me: unlike Lindy Lou she has no transom in the water. Put the rest down to the skipper and the dipping lug rig?

Hi am new to this. I am the owner of "Reliance" Deena and she is for sale if any one interested. I spoke to paul a couple of days ago and he said that "Our Boys" was sold and off to Milford Haven. Am looking forward to looe to Its always such a good wekend. hope we get nice winds. still not been to abad one yet!
 
Having sculled past me at impressive speed when she left duardoez, I caught up with Guide me on the Channel de Four (Wind on the nose and Victorious dont point very well, so had the iron topsal "assisting") but i could not resist so shut the noise off and had a go. . They know her well, tacks are slick and relaxed, and She was gone in no time.. . sigh
I mitigation i was virtually singlehanded and thus unable to set a topsail. . but even so. . that boat is quick! and a joy to see sailing. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Hi,i am the new owner of our boys,i recently purchased her down in cowes and will be sailing her back to milford haven as soon as i can get some time off work and the weathers ok.Eileen is for sale and is on the beach down in penryn,i went down to look at her before i found out our boys was up for sale.She is up for £63000 and probably open to offers.She is owned by loraine harris who has lived aboard her for about 13 years and carried out extensive work to her and she is curently in good condition and a perfect live aboard.Hope this is of some help.
 
And yet we did manage to beat Cancalaise at the Looe Lugger Regatta some years ago! Nippy little lady is our Guide Me!
 
Neil Morgan owned Seagull years ago and kept her in the Balearics. He lent her to some `friends` as he couldn`t sail because of his back and they never came back. There was a big interpol search that took in the Canaries, as I recall, but I don`t know what happened to Seagull. Neil and Danny came back to Durham I think.
 
Our Daddy, Our Boys & Our Girls

I used to live above the VG stores in Looe in the 1960s.
I went night pilchard fishing a few times with Mr. Pengelly aboard Our Daddy.

Paul Greenwood writes (on //www.looe.org/luggers.html) that Our Girls (FY54) had left Looe by 1960.
I'm puzzled because I'm sure I saw her still working out of Looe when I lived there between 1962 & 1967.
Can anyone confirm when she finally left Looe?

Know one of the previous owners of Our Boys (Knew she was sold... but did not get to the post until now..). Beautiful boat and treated with loads of love and care.... but as with most ventures when owners are spread apart, it is difficult to carry off in the long run..

The 2010 luggers weekend at Looe? When is it, please? PM me if you want or just post it.

As for the Lindy Lou, a lighter engine, and a justing the trim forward woud help, as would better fairing of the prop aperture and a new rudder. That's my tuppence, anyway.

It's every 2 years, the next one should therefore be June 2011, usually the first weekend of the month when tides suit.
 
The OP...

Just as a first post on this forum. I am the new owner of the lugger Ocean Pride! We sailed her back from Penzance to Rye a week ago and now the work starts! Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

She has the advantage of not having too much to take apart to start with and what is there is not held together by much :eek: I may be in touch for inspiration as you too have a beautiful boat!
