I fancy sitting off a beach near Plymouth on Saturday. What is holding like off Looe, and would this forum recommend it? Was in Salcombe off Sunny Cove two weeks ago and overnighted at the top of the Bag off the Poundstone?? Cunliffe talks of potentially poor holding in weed and we certainly dragged quite a bit but fortunately no-one to hit! Will certainly sharpen up my digging in technique but anyone else had problems there?

No idea what the holding is like at Looe. WE've stopped there many times and not moved. ( Only for an hour or three). Mind, we never move where ever we drop the hook, so maybe not the best to ask. You can also moor in the harbour if the tide is right.

Loads of pubs, chip shops and other stuff. Birds to oggle on the beach. So yes, tacky. Would not think the place big enough to get very tacky, which is a pity.

Highly recomended.

Polpero is also very good and exeedingly tacky, you can anchor, take a buoy or tie to the jetty. Dont try the inner harbour, we did once and had to back out, it is very small. You may not find room at all, so go to Looe.
