Hi all. There’s an outside chance we might be living abroad for the next 3 years- and not some where we could take the boat to. Any ideas on a reasonably priced, (well frankly very cheap!), safe place we could leave the boat- preferably in the southern half of the UK for logistical reasons but anywhere considered... (11m steel yacht, 1.7m draft, 11 tonnes, could consider mast down but it would be a palaver)

Try Ridge Wharf at Wareham. Your boat will be in good company as there are many similar boats there! However not a graveyard, particularly as they have just done a clearout.

I'm not sure if the draft would work, but try John at Trevisomme House in Falmouth, our old boat was there and it was really well protected but lots of it dries.

Contact Retreat Boatyard in Topsham on the Exe, they have stored several boats long term. They can shrink wrap them. My boat has a 1.7 draft as was kept there for several winters.

I would recommend the River Yar Boatyard in Yarmouth. Jamie who runs it is very accommodating and has looked after several boats for me.

Thanks folks, awaiting the result of an interview, just need some ballpark figures to begin to find out if it’s all economically/logistically feasible or sensible - so good stuff to be going on with.

Try Richardsons Boat Yard, Island Harbour, IOW http://www.richardsonsyacht.co.uk/ I left our boat there on the hard for about 18 months in 2015/16, at the time it was the cheapest in the Solent, not the easiest to get to though!

Now thats an idea- not far from my mums house either, where I would be storing a lot of stuff. Not heard about the job yet so looking more unlikely, however.
