Coming to the conclusion that Summer is going to give the UK a miss this year.

Have limited holidays but planned 2 weeks on the boat starting August Bank holiday.

As last week in June we got 1hr of sun over 10days at serious risk of SWMBO mutiny so seriously thinking of chartering a boat in Greece or Croatia.

Would obviously prefer to sail our own boat - if only I knew the forecast!!

Can anyone suggest any long range weather sites. I appreciate that accuracy will be questionable.

You don't need a long range forecast site this year, the weather is going to be crap but if you insist try ECMWF site, they have models that look about 10 days ahead.

Currently forecasting the same for the next 10 days......

My relatively limited experience to date has taught me to all but ignore long range forecasts, apart from the fact that it is going to be a perfect weekend of course /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and has been forecast to be so for 2 weeks and will indeed be great. A big lump of optimism never goes amiss in this activity !.

I reckon the weather in the E Med is probably just as crappy, Roger, so brace up and give Jane a stiff one... Islay Malt of course... or two, to keep her mellow. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Been trying this new website www.windfinder.com, intended for surfers but gives a nice 3 hourly forecast for the week ahead and grapghs of current wind. Be interested what you think.

Having been out on our boat on the East Coast for the last 2 weeks, and observed that no forecast was ever even close to being right even 12 hours in advance, your "3-hourly forecast for the week ahead" is probably about as useful as a chocolate yacht keel !

Being warm is not to the point, surely? It is nice and warm here, but it is also bloody unpredictably windy and rainy. Anyway, you can stuff 40C

Have you thought of chartering in Sweden?

Most years, there's wall-to-wall blue sky in the Baltic, for weeks on end. There are lots of island harbours to visit, and very few Britz.

Worth a thot?
