The London Show looks to be going further downhill.......I wonder how many boats will be there or if it will be full of charter companies, flotilla holidays and the like.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that it has been dying a slow and agonising death since it moved from Earls Court to Excel and its about time it was put out of its misery

Couldn't disagree more, we love London and always have a great weekend there, with dinner at Y Ban!

Google it

Two things.

Earls Court was on its bottom, Excel saved it .... for a short while.

This new show will not be London Boat Show it will be a mixture of boats, holidays and arm chairs .. oh hold on.

Sadly it's time to say goodbye to what was. Things change, circle of life. Exhibitions as a whole ( indoor b2c). Continue on a downward spiral inc Düsseldorf.

Move on nothing to see here, literally

You will never please those who thought it should never have moved from Earls Court, fact is that it had to move, boats were getting bigger so had to move somewhere, I'm sure where ever the show is held it will struggle in the current market, can't keep blaming the move, for me it's a lot easier to drive to Excel and park there than it ever was at EC which means I have been every year instead of not bothering due to not getting there easily

The Southampton show hasnt struggled at least not to anywhere near the same extent so why should the London show struggle if it was just market conditions? Not only that but other shows in Europe have gone from strength to strength during this period. Yes I agree that the show had to move from EC but the real question is whether Excel was the right venue to move to and IMHO it wasnt. It may be easier to park there but for everyone in the country except for people living in Essex, it is very difficult to get to by both car and public transport. Second the area around Excel is an urban desert; one of the attractions of EC was that SWMBOs could go off shopping if they wanted to and everybody could make a night of it afterwards in the West End. The other big error was to delay the start of the show for a week. The EC show used to start on New Years day which meant that because most people are off work on that day and many people are off work for a few days after New Years day, the show happened at an ideal time for many people. Now it starts in the week when everybody goes back to work after the Xmas/New Year holiday. No wonder only the most committed boaters go to Excel now. The other stupidity is that by moving the date back by a week, the show almost clashes with the much larger Dusseldorf show leaving some exhibitors to make a choice of one or another and of course, because it has so much greater footfall, they're going to choose Dusseldorf

LIBS shot itself in the foot with its move to Excel and by delaying the start by a week and as I say, now its a dead man walking. I would be very surprised if it still exists in its current format in 5yrs time
