London - Cambridge in a car, how long?

Sorry in advance for this being non-boaty!

I don't normally drive and wanted to know when to leave Hammersmith to get to Central Cambridge for a meeting tomorrow at 1:30pm. I have so many conflicting bits of advice from friends about the time it will take due to central Cambs horrific traffic and to park there... (thinking of Station Car Park) I can't miss this meeting yet I dont wnat to leave too early as I have some work to do tomorrow AM.

allow 45mins from the M11 to Cambridge centre..... although might not be quite so bad in the middle of the day... there are more roadworks in Cambridge at the moment than you can shake a stick at!

through Cricklewood then Hendon join the A1 M then the A 505 say 1 1/2 hrs > 2 hrs

I would not even consider the station car park after 7:30a.m.
Your best bet is to take the park & ride from Trumpington.
That is just the Cambridge side of J11 of the M11.

DB3 and ECB - I am prolific user of Network Rail, but on this occasion, plans to for the weekend (which involve lots of chandlery visits) consipering together with w/e enginnering works, ,means a car would be more sensible even though the train to Cambridge is only 45 mins.

As it is a Saturday, traffic should be less congested.

From Hammersmith on a Saturday, I would go along the river to Docklands then the A102 to the bottom of the M11.

For Cambridge come off at J11 this will take you into Trumpington Road look out for the Lion Yard carpark a right hand turn into Pembroke St, which is right in the centre (if that's where you want to be).

An hour and a half should do it but allow for two.

Thanks everybody. Well I left 2.5 hours. Left London at 11:00 on Friday and got to Trumpington P & R at 1.10. Traffic on M11 slow - meeting finished at 5pm and afterwards took me over half an hour to get bck to PR and another 30 mins to the M11!

Sounds normal for that time on a Friday!
Just glad I don't have to go that way home.
I feel bad sending you there now as the Madingley P&R would have given a quicker exit.
