Its that time of year again for our annual pilgrimage. is £12 a head the best price or anyone know of a better deal?

Contact a friendly Ben/Jen/Bav dealer and tell them you'd like to view their latest XYZ which is at the show. If they've any sense, they'll send you complimentary tickets.

We go if we are researching a purchase, but this year I don't think we will be buying anything, so we'll probably go sailing instead!

Fine if you are planning on buying a new boat, but a bit far and expensive if you are just looking for some new oilies!

Depends on where you live...and what kind of oilies you want :-) it's as cheap for me to go to Germany than London, cheaper when there, a better day out and with a LOT more choice- unless I want a hot tub or some knifes sharpened...

Im going to paris! No real idea what its going to be like. Just an excuse for a day out on the way from Edinburgh to London. (It is on the way from Edinburgh to London isn't it?!)

I don't bother going any more, as I have no interest in motorboats or hot tubs.

Me neither. I haven't been for maybe twelve or more years, but if it's going to be free, I might give it a go, if only for old times' sake, since we went there on the first evening after our wedding. We had dinner there, at Earls Court, which must have stayed open until late evening.

We used to go to the Earls Court show every year for decades, and moaned about the stuffy atmosphere, lack of decent food for any price, or a place to sit and have sandwiches - but we always found somewhere.

How wrong we were !

I look back on the days of the Captain OM Watts chandlery stand, and the probably non-pc daily shows with scantily clad crumpet - let alone real, feasible to own sensible sailing boats - with sad nostalgia.

Excel is about as enjoyable and inspiring as going along via a much more horrible journey ( from South West ) to get mugged both in wallet and a wasted day one won't get back...

On my last visit I was being paid to go - and still found it diabolical.

I bet Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin never visited Excel, with good reason; the moon has far more atmosphere and is a much nicer place to visit I'm sure; Excel is just plain god-awful, and would be even if they had interesting boats.
