Just back from the show. It was an excellent and informative day with very good knowldgeable people on the stands. Particular plaudits go to Aquafax (very knowledgeable technical advice on all matters seacocks) and the Parker/ASAP stand for great advice of diesel fuel filtration also Raymarine - excellent product knowledge on display. We went with a specific shopping list seeking advice and it worked very well for us. Very pleased we went, well done London Boat show.

How many sailing boats on display this time?

Not many sailing boats and those that were there are AWB's. It isn't a place to buy a sailing boat but great for the ancillary support trades. Lots of motor boats - very quiet in that hall.

Is there more than one hall again this year then? On a previous thread someone else suggested that there wouldn't be but if there is that's promising.

Well it seemed to me that we walked from one hall to another to look in the motor boat section, pretty sure there were two halls though I might be wrong.

Also just back. It seems to cover the entire south section of the hall(s). Felt bigger/better than last year (slightly more sailing boats, but still the majority were motor boats)

Golly. That's a lot. There are twenty two halls on the south side, each 2,000m2 and 23.4m wide. Are you absolutely sure that the show was 500m long?

I think it might have been. 500m long. Just had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Apart from the bumpy flight down. I thought was quite a good display of sailboats. Jeanneau. Beneteau. Bavaria. Legend. Jboats. That I can remember. The legends were particularly well thought out and put together. Loved the sheer luxury of the big gin palaces. Particularly the princess88. The fairline stand had a great free bar.

As one walks in from the western end there are shuttered halls on the south side, several doors with shutters down I would say. Didn't pay too much attention though.

Not sure if you're in the market for a big mobo but fair play for checking them out if you're not!

I get too intimidated by the sales staff to partake... 'what are you mobo'ing in at the moment?'

'A Honda tender and 5hp outboard,'

Not sure if it was 500m, but it certainly felt bigger than last year. The sailing boats were split with a chunk (like Bavaria, Hanse & beneteau) on one side and the remainder in the other side (jeanneau, jboats and a bunch of the smaller yachts like Cornish crabbers etc).

All in all I had a very good afternoon

It was fairly calm, but then again it is the preview day, so I guess more people will turn up over the weekend. Then again, maybe it had been going downhill for the last couple of years, so it might take a couple of years to get the visitor numbers up again...

In any case, if next year they have the same amount of boats on display I would again....

Ps we also had no problem visiting the very big motor yachts - even when indicating we were not planning to move over to the dark side - they more than welcoming and talked us through the features as in an attempt to lure us over....

Careful - they're like drug dealers....you get the first fix for free!

no motorboating for me. Had to look at them as my wife was there. I Also enjoyed getting a close up view of Nicole Sherzinger.
I had to make an appointment to view the Princess 88 but the way I look at it is the sales men and eye candy in tight dresses can't afford them either.

Any pictures? (not of the boats or the salesmen.....)

I'm going this morning, just waiting for my mate to pick me up. I genuinely couldn't pick Nicole Sherzinger out of a line up, but will try my best!

We went yesterday as well, I was glad we went, a nice day out, including a look in to the Classic Motor Show - well worth the bother if you are/were anything of a petrolhead.

However watch out for free gifts from the International Stand - see extract from my email to them below:

My son and I were given a free bag each by young ladies at the International Paints stand yesterday.
However the plastic bottles of Super Cleaner therein had both split and leaked by the time we got them home.

The bottles both appear to have a weak point, just below the neck, where the cap secures itself.

Given the dire warnings about keeping the stuff away from skin and eyes on the outside of the bottles, I thought you ought to know.
