I haven't gone this year because, like OR4751, I've got most of my needs for the present boat. I live in the West Midlands and I don't find it hard to get to Excel, whether by rail or road. Methinks many protest too much about this.
However I do think that the Hall is not conducive to the display of sailing yachts. No masts and sails, apart from the dinghies and small keelboats, detracts from their visual attraction.. Motor boats are not so prejudiced, indeed the lower ceiling my enhance their display. The dockside display often does not work well because of the weather. On-line shopping for chandlery has made many of such stands uneconomic. True some of the technical stands are useful, but a phone call is often just as informative!
