Love the opening para on the London Boat show side bar:

"Chief Officer of Boat Shows, Murray Ellis, explains the reason behind the decision to shorten the Show from five to 10 days and to add the Boating & Watersports Holiday Show and Bespoke London to the 2018 event at the ExCel in London...."

Muddled words aside I welcome the shortened five-day show and look forward the following year when they shorten it by five further days....

at least you got it!

I am of course going to take a look (should be back from skiing by then) but I am not going to look at the London Boat Show I am going to look at a new show as this is basically what it is.

It's been "totally new" every year for the last ten years so I hope 2018 is no exception.

This is somewhat different, five days does not allow the investment or infrastructure of a 10-day show so look and feel will be very different and may not be a bad thing.

I was so disappointed with last years show that I tried the Dusseldorf one the week or so after... I'll be happy to hear if the new London show proves impressive and useful - but I already know I'll be making the effort to get to D-dorf again for my boat show fix instead, yes it's an effort to get over there (we drove), but what an impressive event!

Just so. It takes us half a day to load up, another half day to drive down (and £100 pollution fine), a day to build the stand, 5 days exhibiting and then a slightly smaller total (including the £100) for the return. 4 days investment for 5 days exhibiting. It just isn't worth it.

Apart from that, I don't like the place along with many others.

Why don't they switch to the NEC? A benefit would be the necessary exclusion of the big power boats.

Somebody tell me about Dusseldorf please.

Düsseldorf- if you talk to the BMF International team they will be able to assist you and advise you and possibly obtain a grant to exhibit.

In a former life I used to be a part of that team ( many years ago!) and provided many Thousands of pounds of grants to up and coming companies such as Spinlock, Navico, Sunseeker, Princess and many more ...

Thanks for that. Do I need to be member of the BMF? I guess I should ask them that!
