I'm thinking of replacing my Bukh DV20 with the 30hp Lombardini has anyone out there had any experience or heard feedback good or bad, with these engines.
Mate of mine has a Lombardini in his boat which has been fine. He had a small amount of trouble getting home of spares though. Personally I'd be inclined towards either Beta, or preferably Nanni, which use the same base units but seem a little better put together. Support for the Beta is easily obtained, likewise the Nanni..
Why not simply do a 'like for like' swop with the new Bukh 24. Did just that last year - superb engine, quite unlike the old type. Direct injection, instant starting etc etc! Just a thhought. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
They were at libs and I wasn't particularly impressed with the design - much more impressed by beta et al
Can't put my finger why I thought so - the air intake looked IIRC a little naff and the general design rather fussy, just felt I wouldn't be comfortable with it.
One of my objectives is to also reduce weight,if I re-engine with a Lombardini or similar type I save 135kgs down the back end of the boat which would be better for performance.
