Hi looking to finance about 50-60k would lombard be the best company out there for marine finance or are there others which you would recommend thanks as always for the great help and advice given...

Lombard are very good, can be flexible and offer good terms. I have always found the staff there to be extremly helpful - Ria and Vicky have looked after me for years and they are excellent to deal with.

I have always found Barclays difficult to deal with and BoS where good but have since pulled out.

I did get some very competitive quotes from these guys http://www.sgb-finance.co.uk/ - unlike Lombard and the other UK banks, they offer fixed rate deals with flexibility which mean you can bank the interest rates now for the term of the loan.

RBS own Natwest who own Lombard.

The other players i know are Barclays Marine Finance and Black horse who are both part of Barclays and Lloyds respectively.

I also agree that Lombard do know stuff, helpful and competitive. After signing up with them last year for a good sum, it was nice not to get treated as a sales target and be told what to do with your own money as when walking into your highstreet bank. What impressed me was the ability to get the right and same person on the end of the phone first time! After signing my life away the interest rates fell further and as the loan is tracked above base rate I'm already repaying sizable chucks against the capital.:) Lets face it, finance is the only real way to get the the water. Will use them again for the next boat in years to come.

Another vote for Lombard from me, our purchase seemed to be quite a painful process, the easiest bit was dealing with Lombard. Will definitely use them again when we upgrade.
