Lokata RDF -is it still usefull ?

I have acquired a Lokata RDF 5B ,I am using the compass as a hand bearing unit, but most of the marine radio beacons are now switched off. Can it be used to pick up aeronautical beacons ?

Yes, any that are still transmitting. But do you really want to? My DR was always a lot better than anything I could get from the RDF. It's useful for Radio4 LW when they split the frequencies for sports etc! Do keep the compass though.

There is one or two sites still going I think but I should take the compass off and junk it.

They were never much use even when there were transmitters all over the shop.

Best used now for testing gravity.
