I have a set of LOGIC gauges on the boat, depth, log, & wind.
I believe they were supplied by Mannesmann VDO, & are the Oceanline Black series.
The wind speed / direction gauge doesn't work at all. Both the depth & log analogue readouts work fine, but the digital trips / alarms etc seem not to.
Questions;
a.) are these still supported? The internet isn't throwing anything up of any use. Maybe a marine engineer somewhere with a big box of bits.
b.) if I replaced them, does anyone have any expierience of the new TacTic wireless system which look good value for basic family cruising.
c.) given the depth & log dial indicators work fine, should I care or am I falling into the old trap of replacing them just because they are there?

Do yours look like this?

I have VDO Logic instruments of the above type, which are excellent quality but production appears to have ceased about 2001/2. Spare wind instrument anemometer cups and wind vanes are still available from the manufacturer. UK agent is Furneaux Riddall (for supply Tel:- 02392 668 621).

If you do decide to replace your instruments please do not throw them away. I can use them for spare parts. I am particularly looking for a multifunction display, but wind and log depth instruments are also useful.

Yes, that is exactly what I've got.
The depth & log work perfectly on the analogue dials, it's the digital functions that have packed up. That's fine 90% of the time but I wanted to set a depth alarm for tacking up Fareham Creek the other day & couldn't make it work.
The wind instrument doesn't work at all. The masthead set looks fine, I think it's electrical.
I quite fancy replacing them as they don't have any back-lights for night sailing. I'll decide when I drop the mast this October, if I do take them out I'll let you know.

Greetings from Australia, I am also in need of the wiring diagram, would you happen to still possess said document ?

Cheers :)

Re: VDO Logic Instrument

Hi there,
I have a set of Logic instruments as well . I have a problem with the mast head unit and would like to replace it, however it appears that they are now obsolete.
Does any body know of a solution rather than replacing the whole system ???? ie: interfacing another brand with the same digital sentence or some sort of sentence translator !!!!!
All assistance greatly appreciated
cheers
