Hi experts,

I'm biting the bullet and servicing the above winch which raises some questions, so I'm looking for some help !

Removing the oil - I have found that the tube of my Pela pump will not pass the large gear wheel accessing from the fill hole. Does anyone know whether I will have a flood of oil if I pull out the inspection window ? There is no evidence of oil level on the sight glass, as it is only 0.5L I suspect not a lot will come out.

Inner gypsy clutch cone (p.id. on Lofrans diagrm 277)- having taken off the gypsy I don't seem to be able to pull off the inner cone. Can it only be removed by completely stripping the winch ?

Insulating washers (p.id. 241 x2) - to remove the motor housing, to check for corrosion and terminal security, the two nut and washers are removed. The insulating washers, which degrade, only appear to be available as part of a kit containing lots of parts that I do not need at present. Does anyone know of an alternative source ?

If it has been abused you may find that the key and maybe the keyway has twisted. Mine was so bad that I had to cut the key in half with a grinder to get the cone off. The keyway in the shaft then proved to be so badly twisted I had to get a new shaft. Good luck

Assuming the sight glass is clear, then if you can't see the oil, it will only spill when you tip the windlass. I emptied via the sight glass, as I replaced it anyway. It was opaque.

You should be able to get washers on eBay. Upload a picture, or describe them, and I may be able to help.

Many thanks for the replies.

I'll try being a little more forceful to pull the inner cone !

Ordered nylon washer from eBay, I thought they were Delrin, but reading the Lofrans parts list it says they are nylon. They isolate the SS dome nuts and washers from the ali motor housing

Ordered EP90 oil, and motor hsg to main body gaskets from AR Peachment so should be good to start looking inside.

Opps ! Did not occur to me that they might be shouldered !! The picture on the Lofrans website does not suggest they are, whereas the isolators for the hold down bolts do show as shouldered in the picture. Keeping fingers crossed eBay washers will be ok.

YouTube has some US videos of Tigres servicing, also they seem to miss some obvious points such cleaning off the hsg mating face for the new gasket !

Bolt/dome nuts holding motor cover to main hsg are M8 according to Lofrans diagram.

Not using manual, only various forum posts, Youtube, Lofrans diagram. Seems fairly straight forward, that until one cannot pull off the inner gypsy cone !!

Praise to AR Peachment, ordered motor cover gasket late yesterday afternoon, arrived today's post !

Will tackle job once I've shaken of man flu !!
