My windlass has seized leaving me only a couple of weeks to sort it out. The bushes at each end that carry the crown gear each end are seized solid. Lofrans are based in Italy and I could order from them but I am not sure what tiime scales they operate to.
My question is - Is there a source of these bushes in the Uk, I cannot find anyone. MarineScene do a maintenance kit but I do not think these bushes are in the maintenance kit?
My windlass shows no visible signs of corrosion anywhere although there is some to have swelled the bushes onto the shaft!
The design of these windlasses is appalling e.g the planet bevel gears have a bush that uses as the pivot pin THE THREADS OF THE PIVOT BOLT. I have never seen anything like it.
