I split the top of my locking screw while removing the 'housing' prior to changing the anode. Ordered part no 3855529 but it looks a little different from original grubscrew. The original one when screwed in (to keep prop from falling out) was 'flush' with the prop housing whereas this replacement would be 'proud' (top of screw, which accommodates the slot for the allen key head is nearly 9mm high and wider than the 'body' of the screw itself) and without trying it yet (just got the part now) I'm wondering (before I go down to my boat on the hard at the yard) 1: are there two types and 2: will the prop be able to fold properly? Has anybody experienced the same?
regards to all. K

Your description of the locking screw sounds correct. The Allen head should be wider than the thread. The start hole in the boss is larger than the thread.

Thanks Stork III but it prevents the blades from folding. I did check - took ages - to see if there was an 'earlier' version but the diagram did not have a similar lock screw. I'm including a pic of the prop. The little grub screws are flush with the housing. I've included a pic for comparison with old one which is damaged.

Thanks again.

Locking screw for prop on VP MS25S saildrive

Thanks Bigwow, but if you look at the two types of grub screw the one I'm after has a section without any thread to catch the groove in the locking pin for the prop. The Volvo one in the diagram link is for a 120 saildrive and has the threads going all the way.
Incidentally I'm now thinking its not even a Volvo prop: perhaps a flex-o-prop - looks like it but I doubt it; or even a propeller from Eliche Radice - looks very like that. I'm sure not all MS25s units to Hanse 301s were fitted with Volvo two-bladed folding props so I'm still digging although it's driving me crazy. In the end I may have to 'engineer' a suitable loking screw with a little help for some engineering firm nearby.
Thanks again tho'

Ring Keyparts, they are really helpfull, I.m sure they have what you are after. Your prop looks like the older type of Volvo folder before they started fitting anodes to the hub.

Look on the front face of the prop details should be there with VP part number for the boss it may also be on side of prop boss
The number may if an alloy prop be the complete prop number
Either way if you get a part number then VP dealer can do a reverse search and determine the screw part number.
Not all things on a boat may be original.
