Don't ask me how, but I managed to lock the fridge and can't open it! There's beer in there to be drank :(

See attached picture of the clip... you'll see on the bottom it has a little insert for a 'key' which is a basic lock that just flips up or down a strong piece of plastic.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to open it again, considering I don't have the key? I really don't want to break it.

Brainwave I just had would be to un-screw the door at the hinges on the other side, but at the moment don't know if that's possible.

Any other suggestions much appreciated!

Not sure you'll be able to get to the hinge on the other side - let me go and see if I can find my key and I'll get back to you.

Thanks Paul, much appreciated! I'm going to have to get my hands on a key, but in the meantime I need access to my beer!

Wonder if I could make a key?

Phot of the key = on the other side it says M1-454-4 SOUTHCO

It is a rattling good fit in the lock so it can't be that difficult to make another

Paul, thanks a lot, really appreciate it. Will print off pic tomorrow and see what I can make

Looking at that, you obviously aren't off an age where it was compulsory at skool to be able to lock another pupils briefcase with a safety pin. Have a go, it's not difficult, and with a bit of pressure on the lock/lid (to hold each pin once you've pushed it up), you should be able to push up each of the pins one by one with a decent sized straightened safety pin.

Are you mad, man? There's beer in there and this is no time to be messing with skool boy safety pins.

It's got to be a big screwdriver or something similar. FFS, there's beer in there.

Sorry..... Joking a side I have the answer!!!

Tell SWMBO that you have put her new ring / shoes / handbag in there for safe keeping and you've lost the key........ I'll give it 10 minutes before your supping a nice cold one?? Might need to hide your wallet though once she opens the fridge mind!!

lock

Any old flat key that will go in the lock will do it, just jiggle it up and down, whilst turning. Only Bentley's and Roller's defeated us in the old days.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

A philips head screwdriver and a few minutes later I had the door off, then removed the lock and pushed back the lock.

Going to get onto Nick @ Seabridge to order me a key (i've a few bits to get anyhow) and in the meantime i'll make sure that the little latch is at its most un-locked position every time I use the fridge

Beer is safe and will be consumed in good time, no PanPan or MayDay required!
