Damn. Molesey Lock closed from Oct to Jan for repairs. That's an awfully long time to work on the gates, I spent years in construction but for the life of me I can't work out why it can't be done in a couple of weeks.

That means no pump out, no drinking water hose and no boat use for me, apart from Teddington to Hampton Court and back until one tank runs out or the other one fills up. And an even bigger bill to pay with the licence fee hike.
I wonder what the many unlicensed liveaboards between Teddington and Molesey who rely on the pump out machine will do?

A rhetorical question maybe?

What they've always done - dump it in the River...
EA's attitude today seems to be along the lines of "it's a service that we offer - we're not obliged to do anything, go and see a marina....

That's a problem for me. No lock, no access to the non tidal Thames and the marinas.

I had heard of a bloke who did a mobile pump out on the grand union and occasionally the Thames. Does anyone know his details?

Or any alternatives on the tidal?

There is a mobile diesel supply in a big NB, but I assume he'll be locked in the non tidal until next year.

So you're moored on the stretch between Tedders and Molesey lock?

Swan Island has diesel.
Pump out Brentford marina.

Poor Trotman won't be able to move his slum boats downstream... Maybe he'll finally get caught out...

But seriously it's a pain. I'm going to have to do my winter pump out early.

With between 131m and 12bn gallons of water a days going down at Teddington, a few boats' worth of raw sewage will not really make a great deal of difference.

I don't massively disagree with this.

However I would guess its not being released as it happens, in the middle of the channel while they are moving along

It's more likely the case that all raw sewage is being dumped in one or more spots by the side of bank and is piling up there. I've been underwater at the side of the banks, and there isn't much water flow there, also confirmed by my speed log while moored.

I've been in with my radar arch up, don't recall any issue with that, think the lock was quite short though, and I went in at HT while both gates were open for free flow.

Got to be coming up 10 years since I've been in, probably best to give them a call.

He's usually based at Tim's Yard, Staines over the winter so will likely be out of reach.
That's a shame, but I don't blame him. His prices are good, better than the marinas(even for members)and for anyone who may have any concerns about the quality of his fuel, you have nothing to worry about..
He carries up to 12,000litres of diesel and takes delivery from Halls, the same fuel truck that delivers to Shepperton Marina.

And he doses his fuel with Marine 16
