I am new to the River and was told about this forum by a friend. I would just like to say how nice the lock gardens are looking expecially Chertsey, with loads of lovely coloured plants , I came through there yesterday or should I say got blown through. I guess the resident look-keeper is a keen gardener.

A big warm welcome to you.

If you think the gardens are nice now, you should have seen them before the 'elf n safety nazis stuck their snouts in.

I agree with Byron, the gardens now aren't a patch on what they used to be. Thanks to all those lockies who do keep up the old tradition. Maybe the EA should bring back the old trophy - that really would be something positive.

Strange?

'Twas only a few months ago that a forum member said that Chertsey's gardens were in a shocking state of dereliction.

So what's happened - has Paul recovered, or at least managed to do some work on his beloved beds??

Hello. I am new to the forum myself but not to boating. Chertsey is my local lock and this year it has been the best in a while. As you know Paul is still on long term sickness, congratulation and hat off to John who is doing a splended job and keeping up a tradition. [ QUOTE ]

And thanks for that young Bob, having discovered this Nest of Nutters, I hope you'll continue to read and contribute!

Thanks for the info, we don't venture downstream often enough and so I've lost contact with the local lockies. I'll have to work out who John is, and perhaps visit Paul, when we next come down.

It's great that Paul's hard work is being continued before the gremlins of 'Elf and Safety ruin everything.
