10m although likely to upgrade to 12m-ish very soon as family expanding.

Place we’ve used the last few years is only £130 p/m for lift/6 mo ashore/launch but new charge of a £35 per week cradle hire adds on a extra £1k..
I prefer staying afloat, but rather than pay £910 for cradle hire can’t they use wooden props instead?
Or move to Clyde which seems to be cheaper !! (You must have found an expensive place)

There’s not a mistake with the cradle price? Perhaps per month rather than per week? Most yards charge about 1/4 of that! For that price you can almost buy a cradle (of course it could be they have a supply/demand issue and are hoping to prioritise people with their own cradle?)

I know the guy who runs CraftInsure and their policy is quite simple, no insurance for boats afloat on moorings on the West Coast of Scotland.

Yachts dragged L. Aline in a summer gale a few years ago, and needed the RNLI to get them off. In winter...?
There are some excellent yards for wintering ashore: eg: Kilmelford Yacht Haven & Ardoran Marine, and are very good value. Ardoran uses props or cradles.
Both are vastly more convenient than L.Aline which is a really long road trip, especially if the Corran ferry (or the alternative 2 ferries via Mull) is/are out of action.

It can be surprisingly windy there in winter. We saw over 80 knots in one named storm, but the holding is good. With excellent anchoring gear we never dragged.

Ardoran marine is really quite a good option for being on the hard. additionally for 6 months ashore and 6 months on a mooring with a lift in and out and a wash for 10 mtr vessel ? well its not too much at all. Ive had no problems with the narrow channel at all. Yet!!
