has anyone sailed out of loch creran ? i came in on a high tide keeping close to the island as the ccc book says no probs but need to get out an hour or so before low water to get full advantage of the flow down to tobemory . looks a bit shallow though (4ft draught on boat) just wondered if it's ok at low tide

I have 1.6m draft and keep the boat moored in Loch Creran. I've not yet touched anything going in or out at any state of any tide. I'm puzzled by your "keeping close to the island" is that Ersika? It's important to keep surprisingly close to the first, sectored, beacon on the way in, and stay towards the northwest side of the channel until the hairpin bend when you should move over to keep closeish to the second green beacon and then the green buoy.
The shallowest part is near the sectored beacon. My strategy is to go very close to it then if it gets worryingly shallow, move a bit away from it.
*Caution* it's been 6 months since I last did it so check the pilot book before believing anything I've written here!
