How do you find out the location of a new wreck, like the Tricolor? The MCA website mentions that it is 30 miles off Ramsgate, but it would be interesting to know the Lat & Long.

Or do you merely look for the heap of ships in the Channel?

Call HMCG Dover they will give you the exact lat/long also others like Dover Harbour Board, Ramsgate Port Control or the Pilots will have it.

Dead easy to find the Tricolor - look for the large heap of wrecks sat on top of her and sticking out the water!

Given the ship is has the same name as their flag I am surprised the frogs are,nt guarding it better.

More seriously; when Underway I listen to the Coastgraurd's bulletins on the VHF which give the locations of new and uncharted hazards. They announce these on channel 16 at regular intervals

also..

in addition to the MSIB (regular vhf broadcasts by coastguard, announced on ch 16) there is navtex, provided it's programmed to receive safety-of-navigation messages. makes you wonder how any ship could fail to know the dangers!

Dunno if they have finally reached a conclusion, but the day after the original collision 3 different Navtex stations were giving 3 (slightly) different positions.

They also mentioned a chunk of the wreck some distance away - dunno if thats still around, guess not as no-one seems to have hit it.
