Local Hero

Mr Howison?
There's been about 5 or 6 I think - one of the recent ones was built in NZ.
Very scratchy stuff this but someone will know - my money is on Donald Beaton for a correct answer.

Yes,Geoff Howison's boats. My brother-in-law fore-decked for him for years, and was in the crew when they won the Queen's Cup (I think?) at Cowes. Very succesful racer.

Sgeir heard all about it on a sail last November...... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Blimey they've been busy then, the one I remember was the dark red half tonner in the 1985 half ton world cup in Italy. We were sailing heart of gold named after The Hitchhikers guide space ship.

I wonder where she is these days? she was the first MGHS30

Geoff Howison still has Local Hero K5367 (an MG HS30)registered against his name for local handicap sailing on the Clyde.

The beach scenes were filmed on the white sands of Morar near Arisaig and the village scenes filmed at Pennan on the Moray firth.

Great music
