As it is way outside my weather envelope for fitting-out, we went round to the Geedon Gallery in Fingringhoe this morning for one of their exhibitions. As well as bumping into some friends, we saw exhibits by sailing and non-sailing friends and bought a print by Jamie Dodds.

If anyone is looking to buy some good quality painting or a small bronze or ceramic, or just wanting to view, I can recommend this place which we have visited for several years. Although there are some eye-watering prices from well-known painters like Ken Howard RA (thousands), there are some quality watercolours and oils from around £150 that are much better than you will see in most shop/galleries. Ideal for the house or as a present. I have no connection with the owners.

Apart from saying the gallery overlooks Geedon Creek in Fingringhoe, I can't see anywhere on the website saying where the gallery is. It is a bit like an advert for a sale in the local paper that I would like to go to, tells you the times and dates of opening, but not where it is

Jaggers was not much help either. I had not thought of Googling the post code until you told me that is what you had done - Now I see it is in South Green Road, so why couldn't they say that?

If you approach Fingringhoe from Colchester, drive straight across at The Whalebone, past the moonscape of gravel workings towards the Nature Reserve, left at a small junction and it's a couple of hundred yards on the right in some farm buildings, opposite a pond with a concrete swan.

Its only for locals, don't want those 'foriners' finding it!! :p

If you are referring to me as a "foreigner", I will have you know I was born in Old 'eath. Both my Father and I went to Old Heath School. My father was born opposite the Bell (Now gone) and my Grandmother on my mothers side was born near the Ipswich Arms, and she had a cousin living in Fingringhoe. Immediately after the war when many beaches were closed, I used to cycle down to South Green with my mother and little brother

No it was more a comment on the web site not being particularly helpful to find the place!

I made the mistake of venturing out into scuttlebutt and commenting on a COLREGS post, I have come back here for the peace, quiet and friendliness of the East Coast.
