Just enjoyed reading drewstwos report on his day with Kwackers and littleship and decided that what might be pretty mundane pics to you, are actually nice to flick through for others. Especially nice to see boats and places that are written about on these pages and start to put images to the descriptions... ...so, here's a load of random pics from the last 2 weeks I had on my Hardy, Seabird. Hope they might be of interest to others...

I always insist SWMBO and daughter are in a constant state of readiness to launch themselves into action when we are on the water......

fellow Hardy owners the RNLI decided to drop into Yarmouth...

Seabird getting into the holiday mood..

rafting up... Yarmouth style.

dscf3979.jpg

..ever wondered what's up the top of the Yar... well Freshwater of course...not much to see at the end.. but a beautiful dingy ride

dscf3945.jpg

The top of the Yar is so peaceful we did feel we were disturbing this chap having a sail... very nice..

dscf3948.jpg

Not always peaceful though, Yarmouth Lifeboat on the throttles;

dscf3973.jpg

The Yarmouth sunset.. I think we all have a photo of this sunset don't we?

dscf3928.jpg

Parents met us in Yarmouth... Sailing boats are annoying to take pictures of, by the time the top of the mast is in the shot the boat is too far away!

dscf3856.jpg

off to Cowes.. and the wake shot...

dscf3863.jpg

Into Island Harbour... Oh... what's happened to the view!! Massive construction of a wind turbine testing facility.. in the background. Only in the UK could planning for such a monstrous building get through in an area of natural beauty..

Plus side, Island Harbour bistro now called Breeze, with another lot of new owners and chef and was really good... very good food and didn't wait long..

Trying to persuade folks to get Davits fitted to their boat, I am sure my Hardy would hang off there nicely!

dscf3884.jpg

After a few days escaped Cowes week and went to Beaulieu
look at all the raggies...

dscf3917.jpg

another dingy trip up to Beaulieu village this time, off to the teddy bear shop... yes really! ;

dscf3893.jpg

.... Yes, it starts with a "B"!!!

dscf3915.jpg

While I was at Bucklers Hard decided to get a mast installed on the wheelhouse

dscf3900.jpg

Look at that... Sun setting, warm weather, beers cold, bowl of peanuts, no sign of SWMBO or Daughter...a good book ready to read....does it get any better than this???

dscf3906.jpg

..Then back to Yarmouth again for a few days... Seabird even more in the Holiday mode by now..

dscf3925.jpg

Believe it or not I had a few more pictures... didn't realise there was a limit of just 20.... Ok, but perhaps its just a well..!!!

Sorry to have bored you... ! :)

How long did you manage in Beaulieu village? Everytime I go through there I seem to see a bilge keeler dried out. I've begun to think it's always the same one and there's never any water there.

nearly 2 hours, got there around 1hr before HW. From the amount of water could have got there earlier...& stayed later... going again 21st August.. might experiment! and yes, there is a bilge keeler always there!

Nice to see that at least your crew is awake. Mine are sacked out and only emerge after the anchor is set or the dock lines are tied.

I on the West Coast of the US and enjoy seeing pictures of other cruising areas.

Thanks for posting. It's so nice to see pics and read about how boating is done in your part of the sea.

The part about the book and peanuts seemed especially nice, maybe someday again...

Good to hear you have had a nice break James, and the boat looks the goods.

Quite clear to see you still have an eye for yachts mate?! ;)

Enjoy the rest of your season.

'swmbo an daughter in a constant state of readiness' -:D:D

James's swmbo sits there just like mine does, and suns their legs! What is it with the ladies and brown legs?

BTW Kwacka, you've been very quiet lately? Good to see you back....:)

Only just seen this, sorry. Nice pics Firefly, thanks for posting. Yes, crew really getting into crewing there! The Hardy is looking very sorted. What is the make of your parents' boat? Looks Hallberg Rassy but not quite. Scandinavian anyway? There is a makers name on the port quarter but I couldn't read it. Very nice boat anyway (apart from the rag and sticks, obviously :))

Hi jfm, Bajansailor is quite correct, it is a Contest 46, actually dutch built. Yep, agree, all very nice, apart from all the wires, metal sticks etc... and that bloody boom... why do sailing boats have those things!!
