A friend has recently bought an LM32.

Seems to have an anode on the saildrive but none on the hull. No evidence of any bolts for previous anodes either.

Should there be a hull anode and, if so, what is it protecting?

TIA

No reason why it should have a hull anode. The saildrive has its own anode to protect the casing and there may be an anode on the prop if it is a folding or feathering prop. The standard prop is aluminium with a rubber bush to isolate it from the drive.
