Liverpool Marina ups fees by 500 quid a year for a 32ft

Hi all - yes living aboard a few days a week would be mostly the justification for it. I checked Conwy and found it to be just slightly cheaper (than L'Pool) Didn't even know about Fleetwood, will have a look at that.

The Albert Dock is an option, but always says it is 'full' despite there being 90% of of pontoon space there. I'd rather the Marina tbh and it probably has better lock access.

I feel like I'm on constantly shifting ground really - maybe one option would be keeping it in Conwy and using my long-weekends to just go sailing - I doubt the Mersey is really an ideal place to learn?
 
If you are into using a dinghy joining Blundellsands sailing club and get a mooring in the river Alt in Hightown is an option.

I checked one in North Wales (Bangor) as an alternative but they wanted £4,500. Not sure of my options. I'll look at Preston though!

Conwy I guess, Bangor doesn't have a marina. Porth Penryn/Dickies is a lot cheaper but it is drying.
 
It’ll Probably end up like Bristol and just full of liveabaords and mostly narrow boats at that. Bristol marina doesn’t even have space for a single visitor any more.

I wasn’t impressed by Liverpool marina at all. Facilities average, service poor and some of the pontoons were ready to float away due to poor maintenance.

Swansea had plenty of space when I asked them last year.
 
Jeez, you could probably berth in isle of man and fly back and forth and still be cheaper than that!
If your spending non worktime living aboard, you could stick it in whitehaven or maryport for less than half that. My 32 ftlongbow cost £1200 pa in maryport, has a berthholders lounge with tv cooking, pc etc etc and great showers and toilets.

For weekend use, Conwy moorings are far cheaper, we had one for about 15 years. Water taxi operates much of the time and if you want to sail in company, join the North Wales Cruising Club, who also run RYA shore based courses.
 
Its the old clove hitch around the short and curlies I'm afraid, in a lot of cases anyway. So many marina's especially in the UK apply this policy. They are still living in the MDL days of the early 2000's when the corporate speak was.. "squeeze them till the pips squeak". How long they are going to be able to push it for I don't know. Hopefully, somewhere along the line some sort of common sense and fairness will prevail, but I wouldn't bet on it.. (n)
