Liveaboards in Messolonghi

Hello to the "messy" crew, afloat or ashore and an early Merry Christmas to you all.

Having not been into the harbour for about 8 years, a little "where to park" up date would be appreciated before we arrive on Thursday 11th. March 2010 about 1400 hrs.
Please come and say hello when we arrive (very big Welsh and Greek flags)

Regards

John and Elsa (Moody 422 Lille Bee)
Update: We've finally made it to Messy, and we're "only" 47 hours late, which isn't bad considering last week's gales...!

Messy and all that

We parked safely side to with a little help from a "local", early in March just in time to see Wales lose yet again. Water available on the pontoon, though a very long hose is required. Electricity was there but it looked lethal as everyone appeared to be piggy backing off each other. We were warned off the shower facility (note the singular) something about the drains flowing the wrong way. Didn't even look at the loos. A notice on the the club house door attracted the eye "Storing booze on the premises is banned due to fighting and general bad behaviour" or words to that effect. Lots of boats in the water and lots on land (not sure how they were hauled out .. crane probably)

That's about it. It could not be called a Marina by any stretch of the "finished" imagination.. a work in progress might be nearer the truth. Whereas, where we are now is superb..Ece Saray Marina, Fethiye in Turkey (nearly 1000 Km in 13 days from Preveza, eat your heart out captain Kirk); free water, free electric, man in RIB every time you park, diesel dock, waste pump out, shops, laundry etc. etc. etc. oh and turtles and pelicans. OK it may not be the cheapest place on the planet but at least they have caught on to the idea of a package deal; people want to pay one price and have everything included.. including yachties.

Keep in touch one and all

You will find Turkey a much different proposition the sailing out here is first class as are the people I hope you will have a very good summer here :).And the marinas here are world class.I had forgotten how good they were ."Little expensive"But everything perfectly clean the toilet facility are the best in europe i think.
Reading the first paragraph of the quoted post I cannot decide if you have become one of the "Grumpies" or the "half full brigade"? Hope you remain one of the Happies :)

Definately half full

Hell all,

We are absolutely half full members except when murphy and all his little mates in their legal firm (Sods Law etc.) conspire to prevent us sailing. As far as Turkish loos are concerned, we are stunned. Even in the most out of the way places, with no road access, the heads, I mean WC facilities were exceptional. One even had automatic dispensing toilet seat covers.

Got to dash, bow thruster to fix (lazy man's parking assistant)
