Is it possible to liveaboard in Ireland (Eire, I mean)? Is it even possible to find a long-term marina spot for a year or two, liveaboard or otherwise? TIA
John
It depends where you want to live - on the sea or perhaps on the inland waterways.
30 years ago I lived for 18 months on the Grand canal about 12 miles from the centre of Dublin. I was tied outside a pub and so never went thirsty! Never paid anything for mooring either - but things may have changed by now. I have some friends who live on their boats mainly on the Shannon - but many parts, esp near Athlone get flooded in winter so you would have to be careful where you choose to live/moor.
Bring your brolly!

Speaking from rainswept windblown experience I'd say try one of
the outlying islands, like Tenerife or Las Palmas.
But MTB is right: Cork IS best county.
We are currently spending 6 months(fairly cheaply at winter rates) at Dublin City moorings. The managers ariginally said they did not provide 'residential' moorings, but after some email discussion accepted us as winter stay liveabords. There are 2 other liveaboards here too. Its good fun being in very centre of city for winter...don't know about more permanent moorings, although Grand Cana is obvious possibility if draft and air draft ok.
