Liveaboard boat in Qatar

I am originally from the UK but am currently working in Qatar.

I am considering buying a boat as a liveaboard in Qatar. Could anyone advise on where I can obtain further information on the likely pitfalls eg restrictions on sailing in the area, costs of delivery/transport of boat etc.

Any experience or advice anybody could give me on the practical aspect of living aboard boats in the middle east would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.

Given expat friends from the areas comments you will need a form to apply for a form to request a form for "no objection" to your queueing for three hours to obtain a form that notifies the autorities that you intend to apply for a form to request a sponsor to raise "no objection" to your application to apply for the request for a form...

I'm based in Dubai and have a boat here but do not liveaboard, although many do. Some production boat dealerships here now and more and more boats coming up on the second hand market. PM me if you want more details - I know many of the second hand boats on the market here. Whatever you do, make sure you have good AC.!!!

Thank you Steven, I would be grateful if you could send me any details of boats available. All the ones I have seen for sale in Dubai appear to be in the millionaire bracket. I am obviously not in that bracket at the moment but am looking for a sailing yacht approx 30 to 50 ft length with a budget up to approx 50k pounds sterling.

what about buying a dhow and converting? we regularly see them up for sale, recent examples are 50' diesel powered dhow going anywhere between AED50-100k. obviously needs quite abit of work to make it liveable. best of luck

But Marinas are limited in Qatar to major hotel complexes so they have restrictions on the type of boats they give berths to. A bit too posh for converted Dhows I think but will ask the question and ivestigate opportunities.
