Live aboard comfort..........................................

Moody 42 centre cockpit. perhaps 11 made & we have one!Best bit of 'kit' you could live on. Been our'home' for 11 years and with 30,000miles+- under the keel, wouldn't change her for the world. Would love space for a freezer, but a washing machine fitted was the best thing ever done. Don't need central heating but do have a Webasto only been used once, sailing down the Wallet in Nov when we first bought her!! Don't need much else. Agree with chart table. On our boat it's used as an extension to the galley.

Hi Capn Slarty

Hope you're well on your way to writing your ideas down for PBO!

I know where you're coming from. I bought a cheap ferro-cement 40 footer so I could chop her around without worries about the resale value.

My list is a bit like Talbots, starting with a bow thruster, as 15 tons of concrete can cause mayhem in a crowded marina. I know that I can make the boat into my ideal without agonising over the impressions of other people. Ferro is gaining in popularity as folk realise that you can get a lot of volume for not a huge outlay, and I have seen some really beautiful examples of deep sea boats fitted out for comfortable live-aboard.

KISS works well - mine has a simple engine, basic electrics and everything is backed up with fail-safes ( eg oil lamps for lighting - manual tiller for hydraulic steering etc.)

A lot of your ideas will also be put into action, especially in the saloon, where I'll be spending a lot of time in the winter.

Buy cheap and chop around is a good way to go if resale values are important.
