The story that Littleship is only capable of 6 Knots is a load of rubbish. I was forced ;) to helm her from PD to Holyhead on Saturday, the GPS indicated between 8 and 9 knots most of the way and peaked at 11.9 at one of the more 'exciting' moments.

The old gal took the lumpy stuff well, all crockery and glassware remained intact, although the bell rang quite a few times.

Cheers Tom and James for a most enjoyable afternoon and for the local knowledge passed on, the evening wasn't bad either :)

Ye, and the tide was doing 12 knots at the time, so as usual, she was going backwards!!

Duh! You beat me to it Haydn. Spring tides that weekend had rates of 3-4kts just along the coast there. What was the log showing Philiz for the rate thro the water rather than over the ground?

Little Ship is still a beautiful & practical boat in all conditions, I've always admired the Grand Banks.

Yes, only tea served while en route, well apart from the sandwiches, pork pie, tomatoes and cake.

Ask Tom about the 'manners' ;)

Hmmm! I have a friend who makes a great Manhattan drink ! we call them manners...... Phil apparently is partial to one or three, good job his swimbo was driving back to PD, I think Phil slept..... until midday :)

Phil you forgot to mention putting water on the back deck in the Overfalls ?

Tom

As one who served before Little Ships mast, I have witnessed her 10+ knot speed.

I have also heard the bell ring, which is actually a warning, but the drinks cabinet is sealed when at sea. :(
