Hi all, Brand new prop with a slight dent in one blade - do you think it's ok to use?

Hi Bigplumbs - bit of a longer story than that! The guy we bought the Fletcher 19gts had put a new prop on it for us. This one is a spare he had, - it arrived damaged in transit so they replaced it, so this was just sat in his garage. He just came across it and asked if I wanted to buy it for £50. Decent price but just wanted opinions on whether that dent would affect performance :-)

Might not affect performance but the slight out of balance could affect bearing life and seal effectiveness and the vibration could hasten the destruction of other bits.

Keep as a get you home spare.
Just what I was thinking DavidJ - a dented prop is better than no prop!

Balance won't be affected by such a ding, however there is the potential for cavitation.

I'd have thought that a car body shop that can do smart repairs would be able to knock it out with a planishing hammer and dolly for a few quid
