Lithium battery alternative?

Anybody seen the latest Force 4 advert for hybrid lithium battery setup?

BOS LE300 Lithium Extension Battery System

What's the forums battery experts thoughts?

I wonder why Force 4 don't mention in the advert the extra capacity for £400. Did they forget?

Oh ... 25ah!

But you can attach 6 in parallel so that's good, isn't it?

. £2,400 for 150ah ... and no sense of what the internal quality is of the wiring or the BMS!

So, not for me, nor anyone bar those with money to throw around, but interesting that the concept of using a hybrid system is getting some attention since a system that leaves a paralleled lead acid in place is the simplest way of guarding against the problems of BMS disconnect.

As best I can divine from the pseudo-scientific claptrap of this advert someone's trying to sharp-sell 23Ah for £400? What do they take us for?

An advert all but devoid of figures or statistics unless you dig for them - as they are deservedly (and understandably) well hidden.

Snake-oil. No more. No less.

An Odessey or Red Flash AGM would cost 1/3rd of the price and probably still last 10 years. Sterling are doing a 60Ah LifePo4 battery with blue tooth BMS for similar money but over twice the power.

I read the description as "it'll still bugger your alternator, but without all that pesky extra capacity" Seems to be a good premise that it will very quickly take any excess charge and buffer it so the LA take it slower. Short motors will therefore be more useful in theory, and solar might benefit a little. Realistically though that money will buy you some nice prismatic cells these days to replace the whole bank, so it's probably two years late on arrival

This is from Canada, I don’t know how available they are here, they are said to be drop in replacements but I know that claim can be controversial
Discover Battery Enters Boating Market w/Lithium Blue LiFePO4 Series | BoatTEST

Nothing boat-specific about these either other than the name. Bluetooth monitoring is commonplace but doesn't meet the emerging ABYC technical guidance which is likely to become influential world-wide when surveyors and insurers take it up as a benchmark. Drop-in batteries are the most attractive to boaters and the most problematic IMO. This is essential reading for anyone tempted:
