My boat's only light and ickle, so with the water tank on the port side she noticably lists that way on her mooring.

I've found the solution - a shed load of bottles of cheap French wine stored under the starboard saloon berth !

Hoorah ! .. although me thinks this is only a temporary fix...

Roger,
Not really a temp solution. As/after you drink them, refill them with water until you replenish the wine stock - them dump (sorry, recycle) them. Though in a way, you were recycling them by filling them with water.

If you sail to France, the recycling is even better, as you will be able to give them back their bottles!! That is if you drink French wine.

regards,
Philip

SWEDEN and working again UGH.....
I am very worried about this solution.
I have always stored the Claret to barbord (sorry port) and whites to starboard.
It may be that you are running your boat a little deficient in the red sector ?

You could try drinking the cheaap French wine with water, as they do in France [vin ordinare at least] that way you will equalize your ballast at the same time.

Obvious solution, you need an extra drinking crew member, someone my size would be about right, seated in correct position and suitably victualised would cancel all lists.

I'll demonstrate exactly what I mean if you like!!!

All this reminds me of a something that made me smile. We were in the Tide Mill Yacht Harbour (River Deben). A small light displacement boat came in on the same finger. One guy the captain was of moderate build and weight, while his crew must have been close to 20 Stone. We jumped over the side eager to take their lines as the fingers were particularly unstable, we like to help if we can.
In the morning the crew resided in the cockpit while the captain slaved over the cooker with the frying pan, obviously bacon and eggs were on the menu. After about 5 minutes the cabin said "Its no use you are going to have to sit in the middle if you want breakfast". You had to see it to appreciate it.
Perhaps your misses could put on a few stone, then you would have something to wine about.
Cheers
Trevor.
